the upmost interest in the position! I received follow up about my status last week and they have not decided to move forward because they think I would be bored! What do you make of this if I stated and showed interest in the position?!

You probably appeared to be patronizing. Go forward. Rejection is the reality for most of of us who apply for available employment opportunity.

They might feel you are overqualified for the position or perhaps you are the wrong personality fit for the job (ie someone bubbly and outgoing would be a wrong fit for an extremely clerical position and that person would definitely be bored and underutilized).

Not knowing your education/work history and what level they were hiring for makes it difficult, but it is not out of place for you to ask the recruiter what they meant and why they think you would be bored. Reiterate your interest but leave it up to them to give you an answer - that's the only way you're going to know.

Don't let it get you down though...keep looking!

They were essentially trying to show courtesy by saying "You're not getting the job" without saying it. Just accept it as it is and move on, you'll find another one.

Cat's right. They think you're too smart and after a short amount of time you'll look for something else and they'll have to recruit all over again.
