1st Level Helpdesk interview question.?

Went to an interview for 1st Level Helpdesk and was asked, " How will you remove a virus from a computer"?
my answer was use a good updated antivirus software and also try it in safe-mode.
Q2. What if the Anti-virus can not delete that file?
i answered, look for the location of the file and try delete it from the that location ur self.
Q3. what if windows doesn't let you delete that file?
i would just format if there's a backup copy.

ok, some of these answers were wrong as told by the interviewer. could someone give me the correct answers to these please, so i know what and how to do these?

Q1, Isolate the computer from the network, Boot up with a live cd containing antivirus software, scan the pc.

Reason: When you load the pc the virus might change its form, damage files or not let you install an antivrus programm.

Q2. Check to See whether the file is a system file or not, if not locate and delete manual, always a good idea to check if its part of an applicatin you use, somethimes good software can be seen as a virus.

Q3. Use an unlocking software to clear any handels on the file, attach hard disk to OS X, or Linux pc and remove from there, or load with a live cd into linux and remove from within linux. Don't attach to a Windows pc because the virus might propogate.
