can i extract text from html tags using php?

i want to extract only the text from the text with html tags stored in mysql database. plz help me with coding...

all you need to do is this...
$textWHTML='<b>text</b>';
$textWOHTML = strip_tags($textWHTML);

strip_tags will strip out html and php codes from a string.

That easily done, PHP, JSP, whatever; even XSLT done by mistake would do that by mistake. Although HTML has to be in properly formed XML format.
