A car is travelling at a uniform speed.the driver sees a milestone showing a 2-digit number.After travelling for an hour the driver sees another milestone with the same digits in reverse order. After another hour the driver sees another milestone containing the same two digits.What is the average speed of the driver?

A car is travelling at a uniform speed.The driver sees a milestone showing a 2-digit number.After travelling for an hour the driver sees another milestone with the same digits in reverse order.After another hour the driver sees another milestone containing three digits but the condition is digits are in the order of the former milestone and zero is included in the middle., like x0y .What is the average speed of the driver.

let the milestone be xy
then the second milestone is yx
then the third one will be x0y

but yx-xy distance is covered in 1 hour
and x0y-yx is also covered in 1 hour

so x0y-yx=yx-xy

(100x+y ) - (10y+x ) = (10y+x ) - (10x+y)

x/y=1/6

you know x and y are single digits so x=1 and y=6

so 1st milstone is 16
2nd milestone is 61
and 3rd one is 106.

uniform speed is 61-16=105-61=45mile/hour
