No, I hope the people who do that all get caught and are treated like the thieves that they are. Angela B - stealing is always wrong, regardless of whether the victim is able to afford it!!

No. They send out claims adjusters to inspect the damage to determine the amount of damage that was done to the property. It wouldn't work out well.

Fraud to an insurance company happens OFTEN but know that they have trained pro's on board to help deter it from happening. The last Flood policy I sold was so expensive and yet, so basic in its coverage that the customer chose an Actual Cash Value over replacement. You ain't gonna get lots from it anyway....it's a goverment restricted program.

Never faked anything to defraud anyone. And fairly happy with it too.

we are currently looking at a property that has badly flooded twice in the past three years. The insurance is sitting on a £5000 excess. Is it worth taking it as a buy to let? Sorry to change subject but we will buy as a visit for Cherry.

If you want to take that risk - go ahead. But you will be found out , my company had already voided two policy for flood. You will then find getting insurance very diff cult, do not think of lying again as this information is shared amongst insurance companies. Secondly you may well find your premiums will increase hugely, excess will also go up and do you thin insurance companies can not see fraud when they deal with it every day! What about your direct neighbours how have they been affected, a Loss Adjuster will come out see no one else is effected. Finally the company may wish to take legal action leaving you with a criminal record that will have further problems in the rest of your life. So please think of those who are suffering genuinely and the effects it could have.
