Telecommute/Telecommunication: THe good and bad for the company, not the employee?

I am trying to find out what the good and bad aspects of telecommuting are as it relates to the employer. Either one or the other or both if you have any experiance. MAybe you employee someone who telecommutes, or you can provide some insite in another way.

I am NOT looking for the emplyees benefits and drawbacks, that is pretty much a given already. I need ot find out what they are for the company hiring these employees. For instance is it more productive? Less costly? Are there tax benefits? Do employees slack off and produce less than exceptional work? Those types of things.
