missionaries who effectively ruined numbers of native civilizations that are now lost .....

Here’s one example:

Christianity gave the world the Dark Ages; effectively eliminating all knowledge developed by the great ancient civilizations, and strangled (often literally) the development of science for 1,000 years.

Imagine how different the world might be if the modern scientific and industrial revolutions of the 1800s had occurred in the 800s. Christianity, alone, is responsible for that lost 1,000 years.
