    Testing and Evaluation:
    Most undergraduate engineers (and some graduate students) misunderstand the meaning of the test word. They think it means something works showing that: the project, for example. Not so. Test means much more than that. Of course, you have to prove it works (ie, meeting and acts in accordance with the specifications), but a good test strategy is also trying to break the system: do not show where you work, but where an error occurs . This is sometimes called the stress test. A well designed system has always been thoroughly tested: it happens beyond the point at which he intended to work to see how it behaves in unexpected circumstances. This is particularly important for safety critical systems (such as a pacemaker, a navigation system, a transaction processing system of exchange ...). Engineering, normally formalize the testing process with reference to three distinct objectives:
    1. Validation

    Finally, we ask: What is the quality of the system? Again, the brand of art: we seek to evaluate system performance and compare with other similar systems.     Problem Identification

    The identification of the problem involves a lot of background work in the general area of the problem. Generally requires the use of past experience, the experience usually you can not. It requires an ability to look one area (eg telecommunications) and to identify the problem to be solved. It also requires an understanding of theoretical issues that can model the problem. So the first thing you do in your project to become an expert in the problem at hand: an expert in problem domain. Meanwhile, you also need to know how to handle the tools to help you solve the problem.

    These could include the operating system, programming language, programming interface definitions (API), class libraries, tools, utilities and specific analysis of the application. In other words, it is also necessary to become a domain expert solution. The only way to become an expert in the problem domain at a time and the field solution is to learn as much as possible about the area and to learn as quickly and efficiently as possible.     Summaries and Synthesis: what you should go to review its own literature

    Bad literature reviews are often the same size – are usually (usually short) list of documents that the student has read, summarized. This is not really what is expected of them and not get a high score. Another common mistake is to look at the literature, which is used to indicate some of the practical activities of the project, and look at the work that has been responsible for the same or related research questions. You can do better, the writing is not only a synthesis of technology in their region, but also to synthesize the literature. In fact, the synthesis is one of the key skills that we expect from students last year.

    So what is the synthesis? The main idea is that you should have understood the literature you have read and, more importantly, you must show that you understand the relationship between the elements of literature. This means that what comes first in your area, how it influenced later work, how each stage of research, improve what precedes it, and so on. Ideally, you present your own point of view of the work you describe. This, among other things means that you must be critical of the literature you read, and say where the gaps in the work is and how the work can be improved (in particular how your work will improve the well-known technique ). In addition, you can have your own opinion about where your research is likely to go in the future.

    Criticizing the work of others is something that is often new to students last year. One of the most common mistakes I see students criticize the style of the newspapers they read, rather than research that these documents are described. Avoid writing things like “this document is not well written” or “this document is difficult to understand.” A review of the literature should be a review of research that has gone before, not a literary critic of the style of other writers who adopt.

    Surveys:
    Small-scale research is often a useful addition to your FYP. If your FYP is entirely empirically based research, such as basic scientific discipline, then the survey is more likely to be large.In Social Sciences and Commerce, the research useful to do with:
    • Show some initiative on the part
    • gives you the chance to show the study and statistical analysis skills you learned in your course
    • Contributes to illustrate the main themes of the project last year with some "real" data.
    However, there are some dangers of poorly done studies, the research may be worse than no test at all.
