India, Japan in joint Research in IT, Nano-Technology
Tokyo, Dec 15 (ANI): India and Japan on Friday agreed to launch joint research and development projects in the fields of Information Technology and nano-technology.
In a joint statement agreed to between Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, both leaders agreed to launch three joint projects under initiative of Science and Technology.
The three projects are Joint Research and Development Programme in areas such as nano-technology, life science and information and communication technology; development of Open Access Database of the available ongoing and prospective research undertaken in both the countries and joint collaboration in the area of scientific deep sea drilling.
The two leaders expressed belief that cooperation in science and technology constitutes a key element of the strategic partnership between the two countries and welcomed the holding of the 7th Joint Committee on Science and Technology in November 2005 as well as the India-Japan Science and Technology Initiative Meeting in October 2006.
Both countries also took note of the outcome of intensive bilateral consultations in recent months at the level of the Ministers and expressed satisfaction on the "mutually beneficial cooperation between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in peaceful uses of outer space".
