Should I fix the format when pasting an online resume?

Does it matter if you fix the format of an online resume? do employers see the resume chopped up? Or is the resume's format magically fixed when the employer sees the resume?

I have both a doc file and a txt file so if i apply for a job that requires i cut and paste the resume the format looks good, you might try that. Good luck..
