Default House training?

I have a yellow lab who is 5 years old. She has always been `house trained until a year ago when my husband left us. Now on a daily basis she poops and pees on the floor. We have a crate that I put her in at night. Any ideas on getting her house trained again? She used to be so good we could leave her inside alone for 10 hours. I let her outside at least a dozen times a day, but she wont go to the bathroom outside. Just in the bedrooms and halls!!

establish yourself as pack leader.
then retrain the potty time outside.
start with the basics.
When she goes outside, praise and treat right away.
Teach her that ou own the house, not her.

You need to get yourself natures miracle, found at Petsmart/Petco and clean the spots where she has gone in the house thoroughly. If its on carpet, you soak the carpet with the natures miracle so it soaks into the pad. You want to remove the smell, because she has now associated that with her potty spot.

Keep her with you on a leash at all times for a week or two so she is always in your sight and you can make sure she is not going in the house. Take her out often, do not let her go by herself, take her out to make sure she goes outside. Have a treat with you so when she goes outside give her a lot of praise and the treat to show her that going outside is a good thing. If you catch her going in the house, you tell her "no, outside" and get her outside right away. When she goes outside, praise and treat.

Also, until you get the situation fixed, keep the bedroom doors closed so it is not an option for her to go in there.

When you are not able to watch her or keep her leashed with you, keep her in her crate. A dog usually will not go in their crate where they sleep.

Good luck.

use puppy pads. get her scent on one, and put it in the place she goes most often. when she gets use to going on the pads, start moving them closer and closer to the door, eventually get rid of the pad, and she'll start going to the door when she has to go.

She feels the boss has left and she can do whatever she wants. You have to show her you are DOMINANT put her on her back hand hold her there. Make her watch you clean it up. let her know how disappointed you are in her. Make sure your voice is deap loud and clear.

Try keeping her in her cage. then letting her straight outside. and leave her out until she goes then let her in. if she doesn't do her business put her back in the cage when you bring her in. then in a half hour or an hour let her outSIDE again. when she goes then let her in the house. without the cage.

To control the output, control the input. Feed her only at specified times - don't leave food out all day long. The digestive process typically 'gets things moving'. If she doesn't eat when the food is out, put it up until the next time. She'll learn.
