potty training my 18 month old son?

My son has started telling me after he poops so we think he is ready and started sitting on the potty chair. He doesn't do anything but he doesn't mind just sitting there how long before he will don something. am i doing it right just letting him sit there. PLEASE HELP.

that's just fine!!! potty training can be fun. when ever he does something in there make a supper big deal about it. i also gave my son a gummy bear when he used the potty. keep the potty in the main room and let him run around naked. when he beginns to go say "pee pee in the potty" sit him on it and say " wow you did pee pee in the potty, thats amazing!!!" even if its only a trickle that makes it. i kept a bucket of soapy water out and lots of rags and cleaned as he made messes. then when he was potty trained i got a professional carpet clean.

i started when he was 23 months and he was done when he was just over 2 years. (about six weeks) he still has accedents, but that s normal.
