Is my almost 3 yr old not ready to potty train?

I have been trying to PT him for about 3 weeks now.The problem is,he will go pee and poop on the potty if I put him on it but when I put him in big boy pants he will tell me he has to go AFTER he has already done it.I ask him every 15-20 mins if he has to go and he says he doesnt but then he will have an accident and run to the bathroom. He has a few times told me has to go poop and will go on the potty but not often.Is this a sign that he is just not ready yet?

he's still trying to get the hang of it.. just keep up what you're doing and he'll catch on. I wouldnt give up.. dont back track when you've come this far. Just keep asking him like every 10 mins if u have to if he needs to go. The fact that he tells you when his pants are wet is a good sign. My son did that too. it took a few months for him to learn.. but now he only has accidents a couple of times a week during the night! dont give up!!

He should have been ready a long time ago, kids are smart. He's stubborn as are most boys when it comes to potty training. I dont envy you.

Yes. He might not able have that feeling to go pee or poop to afterwards they do it. I know want you going through. I have a three year that I am potty training. He say potty then I take him but he all ready pee in his pull up. But I would keep encourage your child. Take him to the potty every hour. Then he would get the hang of it. Sometimes children doesn't want to stop want they are doing to go potty..

i think hes ready- you just have to be patient and keep reminding him. when my younger sibling was potty training this happened.. but we just keep on asking him..give it time

I would say hang in there and keep going with it. He should be old enough to get it, it just takes longer for some than for others. Keep reinforcing him with big boy and good boy stuff. It sounds like he is getting it. Remember he will be trained before he goes to school!!!
