Can a mule or donkey be trained for english style riding?

I was browsing through some horse sites the other day since I'm interested in riding again after taking a long break. I was looking through some for sale listings of horses and noticed a few mule & donkey listings.

I know you can train mules & donkeys as riding/trail partners, but what about english? Is it just western?

(I'm not concerned about rules for showing just riding in general.)

Absolutely. They have HUS classes at mule shows and I compete against horses in the english classes at the open shows.

Mules and Donkeys are very versitile - they look unique in an english saddle - but you really can't take your eyes off them.
